What Is Infant Swimming Resource (ISR)?

OInfant Swimming Resource logour mission, “Not One More Child Drowns,” is at the heart of everything we do and drives the commitment of ISR’s team, independent instructors, and corporate partners. Preventing drowning—the leading cause of accidental death for children under 4 in the U.S.— requires a dedicated network of caring, skilled professionals whose sole focus is saving lives.

To date, ISR has provided over 19 million Self-Rescue® lessons. We believe in a layered approach to water safety, which includes pool fences, alarms, and active adult supervision. However, these safeguards can fail, and with more than 4,000 drowning deaths annually, traditional methods lack a vital component: the child.

At ISR, we center our efforts on empowering children to become active participants in their own safety. With over 450,000 ISR graduates and hundreds of documented survival stories, we’ve seen firsthand that children are capable of learning life-saving skills. Young children are curious and determined, often finding ways around barriers like pool fences. ISR harnesses that natural curiosity to teach children skills they can use to survive if they find themselves in the water alone.

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is more than a teaching style; it’s our company’s name and the foundation of our mission. As ISR continues to grow, we reach more children who gain these essential skills, giving them the ability to potentially save their own lives in the water.e only unfortunate by-product of our growth is the unprecedented surge in individuals who claim they offer ISR when, in fact, they are not certified ISR instructors.

Is your instructor an ISR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR?
All Certified ISR Instructors have been interviewed, background checked, and have undergone an extensive 6-week in-water training program with a Certified ISR Master Instructor or Senior Master Instructor. They are required to possess liability insurance and current CPR certification. They are required to re-certify with ISR yearly. They also:

    • Offer lessons five consecutive days per week, for a maximum of 10 min/day

    • Will require your child to be registered through ISR’s Online Registration Process and approved to begin lessons by our Registration Evaluation Team

ISR believes that pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary, multi-layered approach to drowning prevention.”
